Using claim poles, village idols and log cabins? :)

I guess you could.. theres nothing stopping you from making infinite village claims right?
[although you cant activate them if your part of a village]

Cart gates still serve a purpose, if you have it in a claim, it leaves vandalism/theft clue. But thats it, that's all

Oh yes, Jorb seems to have forgotten to mention it, but some objects -- such as kilns, smelters, looms, &c. -- will indeed refuse to work if they are too damaged; they would then need to be repaired to be usable again.

My thoughts on this? I generally like it. I know walls and gates and so forth are on their way, but what has me most concerned is degradation of objects over time Specifically, stuff like baskets, chests, and so forth..

Now, half of my base, like a lot of peoples, is dedicated to rows of baskets and chests that hold just about everything. Making enough log cabins to hold all the chests you need to keep a decent industrial/agricultural base ticking over would be a bit of a nightmare imo.

So... either/or suggestion here:

1) More buildings! If my metal smelter is going to degrade outside, give me a large stone building I can put it in, along with my baskets filled with coal, wooden blocks, cast iron, etc. etc.

2) Crates and barrels! I'd like to see some outside storage containers that don't degrade/degrade v.v.slowly.

As a side question, so, does inside a mine count as 'inside' as far as degredation is concerned??

in a different thread lothar said mines are currently concidered inside, but that its unsure if this will always be true.
..as for storing things.. you can easily fit 12-14 chests in a single building.. i understand that a town can have a lot of stuff.. but are you seriuos when you say over 2 houses of 12-14 chests is not enough space? i don't think it's unrealistic to expect a village to have that many houses...

What about different kinds of buildings. Maybe make a stone house thats a bit bigger, or has another story. It would use entire felled trees and primarily stones.

Or, the ability to dig out a old fashioned cellar. Which is just a big dirt pit, with supports. Said stone house wouldn't use like 200 stones, it would use like 5000.

i'm all for bigger buildings, but yea.. you can fit like 12 chests in a house if your not picky... and you shift-place them.
