I think dev's have great global strategic reason to remove RoB.
But as compromise(bad word by itself) new RoB looks like not bad life-possible decision.

I am sure some people will do this regardless of a small or large world. I am really trying to stress the aspect of my opinion that most people don't seem to get, so I will try again.

Both play styles are equally acceptable, and both should be given a fair shake. But the current world size IS TOO BIG!!!!!!!!

Please just search your mind for a moment, and consider that what I am saying does have some credibility. I am really trying to make the point across that there should be room for BOTH.

A larger world is boring for people like me looking for contact, trade, and possibly battles. And even more so concerning was the current talk all through out World 3 of the removal of Crossroads at some point. I am sure however you were not aware of this, nor does it really affect any hermit play style. Of course it has a large effect on the play style I am more interested in if the world is as big as it is now.

It certainly is big, but that's because making longer trips sucks. No one likes grabbing the boat and walking on land a super slow speed without knowing how close you actually are from water. For me this problem will only be solved when they overhaul the map generator and add continents/change the way rivers are generated. So yeah, less land, more water, easier transport.

Please if you bother too much about this, go sit in a sofa and think about an idea that will help both, like more teleporting abilities, faster trasport like a hot air balloon. I'm just saying things thatcome up to me at this very moment and I think it would work well.

With these sort of ideas you have a lot of happy people cauze traders are happy, murderers are happy, explorers are happy and so on...
don't just make a fuss about it and go think ;) use tha BRAINS!!! :D
Hope you have a great day

My right is to play or not play.
From your words it seems like this game is your own toy.
Pitiful picture.
Again: you are not creator of the map. And sad to say, but I think that if it'll be your map game were interesting for few peoples, except me.

Maybe the solution is with facilitating land travel, fords, bridges and such...

Also doesn't someone else find jorb's declarations suspicious? I never noticed any of the corruption mentioned. Maybe he says no major update is going to be made and then BAM, we get a ton of new features :)

It sure would explain all this time without developments

I have already put much thought in to why the world should be smaller than it is now. Especially if the Crossroads feature is removed. So your idea for MORE teleporting abilities really doesn't really have much merit. Not that you went in to much detail with it anyways.

Different means of transportation is of course something that will be added eventually, but I doubt it will be given much consideration at this time.

And before you tell me again to "use tha BRAINS!!!" I can assure you any idea's I came up with regarding transportation, no matter how good or bad, are very unlikely to be considered at this time.

So for now I only feel the need to stay with my original suggestion, and that is for a smaller world than this one.

To everyone complaining about how long until the reset...

Im sure it takes their computer 36-48 hours to generate a new world.

So just be patient and let them do their work. They dont tell you how to live your life.

there was a corruption with the inventories - read the bugs

I am happy with the size the world is. If you want to be closer to trade partners then MOVE closer  . If the world was smaller I would like to see Porting removed (you all know it is coming someday).

I never thought of that. I think you are right. I first thought that they where giving players time to go on rampages.

A bug introduced by some changes that loftar recently made to the saving of characters has caused widespread data corruption in the form of duplicated items and bungled character inventories. After a brief survey of the damage done I have concluded that this world is beyond repair, and cannot by any effort of ours be brought to a satisfactorily unspoilt state. No rollback to an earlier date is possible.

This means:

Sometime within the next 36-48 hours there will be a complete and total wipe of all characters and all maps, and a new world will be generated. Please note that your game accounts will obviously not be deleted .

Due to the short notice we will not be able to introduce any major changes. The changes we do introduce will focus on balancing.

Until reset time the server will run as normal -- bugs and all -- and you should feel free to engage in whatever apocalypse induced madness you feel is appropriate. Or just say your goodbyes to this world.

Our deepest apologies, we hope you will join us in world four.

This is not a drill.
