Comparing a novelty item with a weapon designed to ventilate men in heavy armor seems like a slightly reachy argument.

Therefore I will posit more unrelated speculation instead of addressing this one. Seeing how I omitted it in my previous posting to keep post length comprehensible.

Walls: Seeing how the world is moving into... Something resembling 3D. Would it be too much to ask for projectiles to be blocked by our wood, stone and brick comfort zones? (With perhance notable exceptions guard-towers or platforms you can scale and fire down from) And would more advanced siege engines be too out of place with the setting? Like... I dunno. A scaled up gigantic crossbow?

A lot of good ideas in this thread not gonna lie :!:
A cool down would be necessary maybe like 8 second so the opponent has some time to run or attack.
And the damage would be set as how far the opponent is if hes 5 tiles away and you hit him
Would be insta death but if its 15 -20 tiles away it would nock him out or just do some dam
And the wall thing i could always shoot my bow up to hit you ¦]

and to think this thread was a train wreck a few pages ago. Yes crossbows have far more force close up while Longbows keep it over distance. The Longbows arc is higher angle and thus takes more skill is required. The arc also utilizes the gravity of the descent.

Well they could replace rbow with longbow so we have a new type of bow
I personally hate the rbow and replacing it with a longbow would be way more interesting :?:
So crossbow would not be to overpowerd because he would lose against a longbow because of its distance :)

This debate inspired me to make some concept art for Hafen, depicting the special Yew tree and how it should have a supple bow and provide special ammo with "penetrating" qualities to bypass all possible hearthling defenses. This is of course in as close to Jorb's art style as I can manage, to make it easiest for him to render into the remake.
