Thats exactly what happens, you'll run off into the world for hours thinking your getting away from people, find a place to live. start building, people will find you becuase they'll be looking everywhere for reasrources, depending on how your place looks they might think your new or maybe you built here becuase somethings nearby and start sampleing around trying to understand why you chose that spot. regardless they'll have your location and when they have theift they'll be back looking for things to take and they wont stop, you might as well try to stay mobile with a boat and afew boxes untill you can build a pallisade and make that first, then build inside.

Being a nomad does not appeal to me, even if it's a 'pro' thing to do.

after that comes a raiding phase where the big groups with their moderate quality items go off and rape and pillage everyone else around them.

finnaly after that, the major powers will have extablished themselfs and war with eachother, letting hermits and smaller allied villages exsist.

Thats what im talking about though, when that raiding phase rolls around, if your in a small group or hermiting, dudes with swords are going to show up at your house and you'll be thinking *$&% i havent even started mining yet, and they'll be laughing over skype hunting you down becuase this is what they were working so hard for since the start of the world, effortless slaughter and loot.
