I don't much know java but there is exists such thing like checksums right? And AFAIK, even Minecraft has some kind of serverside anticheat.
These can be hacked. It just moves it into the realm of the super-elite who has them, the ones that are most likely to shit on your parade. Just look at WoW and all the client hacks that have been running around.
But, this isn't a commercial game. Commercial developers pay big money to guys that can create this stuff. I wouldn't surprise me one bit if Activision-Blizzard has thrown tens of millions of dollars at the problem, something small developers can't do. I've not dug into minecraft because, honestly, I don't consider it worth the time it took me to download it. It looks fun, but when I go to play it, I find myself just wanting to go back to other "real" games and quit playing with a box with only 6 Legos in it. (Yes, really bad analogy and to the extreme. Get over it.)
Honestly, if all the problems in the game are too much for you, quit. Most of us that have been around for more than a year have. I stick around and play around just to keep abreast of the changes waiting for Jorb & Loftar to get done with Salem and start working on HnH again. I stick around because I like helping out the new guys on the forums, and there's only a few of us here that are a real help.
