You could earn silver in-game in Salem. There were common forageables and craftables that you could trade for silver which you could use to buy your first nails and what not.

Really? I see, I didn't know that. Or maybe I did? Was that necklace you could make with an arrowhead one of the items you could trade for silver coins? I guess that's not so bad. Still having to leave my hermitage to go buy stuff from an NPC kinda took away from the game. Either way I'd still rather pay a Sub fee than micro-transactions.

So long as anything you can purchase gives you no advantage over free-to-play, I'm good. I'll pay out the nose for cosmetic things, but god please no pay to win or even "pay to make easier".

Really my only bitch with Salem was that "accelerate to top tier" they had in place.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

I'm impartial either way as long as the implementation isn't awful. Ultimately I don't mind however devs want to get money out of their game as long as it's not something absolutely retarded like 'Permadeath game, your actions have consequences, $3.99 per character revive!' I do agree that money as a progress inhibitor is lame though. If a game has artificial roadblocks and difficulty at set integral intervals then it hurts all players, even those that pay. Timegates are fine as long as there's content to play through while you deal with a timegate. Like, if there was a way to instantly build a house rather than waiting 24 hours I wouldn't give a shit about that even if every other player used it besides me because I can still farm and fish while it builds.

Yeah, you could sell arrowheads and cricket teams and whatnot for silver in-game. It did not take much effort to accumulate silver, mostly just time investment.

cosmetics improvements are the only real way. I would pay $5 for a change of hairstyle.
Looking dashing as usual lunarius.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

As long as it's not pay to win, I don't really care how they go about it. To think that they put in the neighborhood of 8 years time, heart and effort into this game and get little in return..... then everyone starts stomping their feet about being completely free for everything or game dies is absurd.

I am ok with cosmetic changes, want your ranger cape to be bright blue, pay 2 bucks and you get a special token to use when you craft it to change its color.

There's your rotation answer. As for pay model, i don't give a shit, I'd happily pay the $15.99/month U.S. that I paid for years for Ultima Online all the way up to Wildstar for a game (Haven) that far surpasses any of them. That being said i think that cosmetic item shops would go a long way......
