So you just want this game to be shut down until the lag can be fixed? What about those who actually play during this lag? That's a tad unfair to them. Granted in the long run it'll be for the better, but still..you're not the voice for everyone else--nor am I before you get that idea--others might have different opinions. To some: This is the prime time to raid people becuase they're rage-quitting the game due to the lag. To others: It's best to wait it out.

I play a couple hours after work and a lot more during the weekend... I'm not sure if I'm just lagging less than most or what, but the lag is usually bearable. Sometimes I have to grit my teeth when I'm trying to do something stupidly easy but keep fumbling due to lag, but usually it's not so bad. I could imagine maintaining a huge base being a headache though..

Unrelated note: Any news on the server crash/down? I didn't see any announcements.

Oh yeah it's so fair that people can take this technical problem and use it to their advantage. Sarcasm. Your saying it would be unfair for people who can stomach the worst lag i've ever dealt with to shut down the server (which is basically on life support right now). To the contrary, it would only be fair to shut down this bullshit so us normal people with too much of lives to play through this thick avalanche of lag will still exist once Loftar gets the server right.

And since you mentioned it, allow me to speak for the commoner. I'm not looking forward to start playing again knowing all my animals are going to be dead and a chance that lag-defying griefers took advantage of a glitch and destroyed my time in H&H.

Blacklisted. Don't bother coming up with another retarded response because I won't be reading your nonsense anymore.

Let's sum this up for the hard of understanding (and I'll admit I was scratching my head for a minute about why people wanted it to shut down, but I realized why in just a few moments of thought...).

There are three possible actions to make it through this period of time. Each one has pretty simple reasons as to why people want it and reasons to not honor it.

1. Tough it out and play through it: Why? People do still want to play, and not playing when others might be playing just isn't an option. Reasons to not do it: You gotta be a masochist to play through a game that is lagging so hard you can't do anything, and that takes a *special* personality.

2. Give up fighting and just let the game go until it gets fixed. Why? There's no point in beating your head against a wall when there is no foreseeable future to the end of the lag. At least last summer when there were serious server issues, they were fixed in a week or two and it was obvious what the issues were. Now... who knows when it will be fixed? Reasons to not choose this: You've put in tons of effort to get your livestock to the level they are. Not feeding them just isn't an option.

3. Server is "stopped" until issues are fixed and people can play within reason. Why? A lot of people have put in a lot of work to get to where they are and shouldn't see those efforts go to waste over technical issues that have no fix in sight. If I had Q200 cattle, I wouldn't want them to die, either. Reasons to not do this: No matter how bad the lag, people are going to want to play and be annoyed until the server comes up.

There's definitely strong reasons to shut the server down until things get fixed, but don't count on it folks. Make a choice. Fussing about anything else is just counter-productive.

I just want to say that when lag got this bad last summer with the data corruption and drive problems, I couldn't play through the lag, either. I had, at best, q60-70 cattle and chickens, and I just wasn't that attached to my settlement. That was my choice, though, and I'm a pretty casual hermit on this game. There's a half dozen other games I went and played while waiting on the lag to level out to playable levels, which it did after a few weeks. I can completely understand why people want the server shut down in the interim, though, and I don't blame them for asking for it.

Nice player dissecting post. (The MagicManICT one of course and not the complainer type post.)

Erm, trying to log on my keyalt ... Main got disconnected. Getting main back up, keyalt got disconnected.
(Lag-Time seems to bypass actual playing time ... shut down forum perhaps. :P )

A little reality check people, loftar said that he know in general where the problem lays but he has no idea how to fix it. If the server gets shut down for repairs it might be months until loftar has the time to find the solution, it also might be never.

Yes the lag is truly soul-crushing, a week ago there were 300 people online, now its only 150.

The truth is this game has been all but abandoned in favor of Salem a long time ago and no one out there will invest any large amounts of time or resources to improve it, as loftar said at one point the problem wouldn't be getting a new server but the time needed to install it, thats how little time he has left.

Personally I accepted the fact that unless loftar or someone else happens to find the solution more or less by accident it might never be found.

Already a lot of h&h people went of to play Salem, once it goes from closed to open beta the 150 players might go down to 50 or less, in short to few to keep the game open at all.

I know that unless the lag is fixed (and almost certainly it will not be) I'll go play Salem as soon as it will be opened.

SO PLEASE STOP BITCHING ABOUT THE LAG AS IT WON'T HELP. And pleas enjoy the game while it lasts since this very well be the end it...
