Besides, ever think that people say shit just to get others to go off in a rant? The internet is full of trolls. Don't feed them.

While the game is fun right now for those nestled behind brick walls, those starting new characters/those that have been raided/those who got a late start on this world are feeling the burn right now, myself included. Look at the map and try to find a single place where you could settle and not be on the doorstep of a raider village. Not to sound like a carebear, but at the start of the world everyone's on an even footing. In a game like this I think wipes are a necessary part of the process. If not a wipe then perhaps a second server, because I'm pretty sure every mine in the game is taken at this point, which kind of defeats the purpose of even playing right now if you're not part of a major village.

You guys can go back to your namecalling now.

This point has been brought up and shot down since W3 so often it isnt funny anymore. There are still mines (especially since its not w3's system anymore) and you can still find a good spot. Try it?

Mate theres unclaimed ore veins "everywhere", its harder to use a jar of rustroot and NOT find metal than it is otherwise.

Actually, i'd say it's harder to use rustroot to find metal than it is to just start digging for it. You can find metal within a few days of starting.

This doesn't make you sound like a carebear. It makes you sound like someone that can't grasp that there is NEVER an even footing. You will always be behind the curve unless you learn how to play right now. If you learn to play right now, then when the inevitable world reset comes, you'll be one of the ones creating the curve. (Or not... too many people around here that will gladly spend 3-4 days grinding non-stop to get up to things like murder and vandalism or getting a palisade up within 24 hours and a brick wall within 5-7 days.)

Any plans for a map expansion? A few of us just started up again and you can't walk ten feet without falling over half a dozen villages. BTW, when did the average players online climb to 500-800? Pretty awesome.

There were 1500 online at one time nearly a year ago. Alas, the world has fallen into a state of maintenance only, so don't expect anything soon. Things are.... not right in the world.

As for why, Jorb and loftar have gotten a "professional gig" doing a game for Paradox called Salem. There's another post here in announcements about it. The plans are for it to be similar to HnH but set in a mythical New England.

Well that's a bit of a bummer. Oh well, we squeezed in between two villages that were already closer neighbours than anything I have seen in previous worlds. At least I can't see another village from inside our palisade. I went exploring for some kind of resource but everything was claimed in the southeastern quadrant, and the map shows that the other quadrants are just as crowded so I didn't bother looking anywhere else. We're making do with q35 soil. It's going to suck but it's better than not playing at all right? :D Most of the guys with me are brand new so they'll just be learning the ropes for a while anyway, and this world has been running a few months already so it's not like we could really play any kind of catch up either. (unless the world ends up running another 2 years :P)
