Or worse still (and probably more likely) the graphics... I mean personally speaking I find 2D H&H spectacularly more visually appealing than 3D Salem.

Well, the current state of salem could be called open beta. There are a lot of websites were people can get keys. I don't think it will be Salem closed beta > Salem open beta > Salem released, but

Salem "Closed" Beta > Salem Released

Which will, hopefully, be soon.

Very true. To make a good 3D game in isometric projection you need very good models and everything, like diablo 3. It is very hard thing to do and impossible for indie developers to achieve without proper funding and outsourcing stuff.

Not sure if D3 is a good example...

Full 3D is deserved to be despised though.

I like 3d as much the next guy does but 2d has its merits that it is easier on the hardware. And Haven probably should count as a 2.25-D anyhow.

Nice looking game. I will give another example but this way in other way. Game Sudden Strike was made first with 3D models and then they took shots of those models from right perspective and angle and everything. Then they used those shots as 2D sprites in game. People are still making models for game mods. Sudden strike 3 was made in 3D and lost all charm to me. I miss those times... :(

Ugh, just recreate the server now, I'm getting a bit impatient. Sorry if this is annoying, but its been over a year now. :x (Salem is going to take almost FOREVER, well, to me. :o )
