the codebase has progressed a lot during the work on Salem and has left the Haven codebase hopelessly obsolete

Does it mean that he wants to make h&h similiar to salem?

From what i've heard him say - it looks likely - which would be, almost, worse than the lag, imo, (ofc) as Salem has no long-term playability content. It's sort of like the Sims, lol, once you've built everything, planned and decorated your base, opened all your skills and raised your stats there is nothing left to do. The combat and siege system are totaly unbalanced and the summoning system makes raiding or even defending unviable.

Although, I should also say that they are aware of the problems in these area's and have said they want to make changes, they are just unsure as to what.

If hnh becomes Salem m2 - it would be a tragedy beyond belief. :(

obviously, they do still care about haven and hearth.
people have tried to buy the source, organize dev teams, and even pay them to go to working on haven.
and what do they always say? no. this means that they do have plans for the game.
also, if they didn't even care about it, why would they continue to pay for the server/website domains?
with some patience, we can hope that during this upcoming summer they can find a bit of time to work on the game.
until then, those who like the game will continue playing it, no matter the conditions. :)

Bummer * Bummer

The older the bug, the harder it is to find and fix. (or else if would not have survived that long of course. ;) )
(And If it can't be found/solved It generally means a rebuild from the ground up. CQ: v2.0 or none.)

Then maybe they should considering opening the code so that some more skilled programmer might fix the code. As I see they don't have any intentions to make money with HnH so it would do only good to have it open source. Maybe even for future generation to learn something...

Loftar has programmers right there in the city with him who have offered to physically show up and fix it. he refused them and sai "What good would you showing up do"? or something along those lines.

it was someone who knew a "server specialist" that resided at that time in Stockholm - it was offered to make a contact which has been refused...i'm sure Loftar knows where and whom to talk to if he's missing knowledge (like maintainers mailing lists and such) ;)
