No.

I know being a hermit means I'm not the average player but that doesn't change anything I have said or my opinion or mean I don't know how the average player plays.

Do you think I don't understand the 'average' players concerns?
I do talk to them and I do mix with them, I'm not a single player in that respect. I know exactly why they are not happy about it.
Tbh, with the amount of objections, when I saw Loftars name, I thought it was to say they had changed their minds.

Do I think it will drive everyone away or turn it into a world of hermits? - no, ofc not, despite the reaction, and if I'm wrong and there is suddenly no playerbase don't you think the devs would change it again as ArvinJA said.

What I don't understand however, is why you are so pissed at me, esp when, although certainly not with the majority, I'm not a lone voice in supporting the idea.
As far as I recall it was Jorb and Loftars idea to do away with hs spawns, not mine. I'm normally disappointed in almost everything they do, (sorry, it's the salem thing, I can't help it) which is why I'm not often in these threads. So are you objecting to me telling non hermits it's not as bad as they think?

Maybe they want to attract a different type of playerbase, one that will play the game in all it's aspects, to the fullest. :P

I can't stop them from jumping down your throat.
I hope I didn't come off that way.

Devs, could you clarify we'll be able to spawn at our old hearthfire site when inheriting? IMO you should keep that.

I don't see why they would not keep that actualy. What concerns me though, is what happens when your hearthfire gets destroyed together with you getting killed?
Hope you have a great day

You forgot to ask if inheriting will exist.

How about for example, having a cooldown on your hearth secret, so you can only have one new player spawn on you every x hours/days and new players cant have a new player spawn on them for either x days or until x experience to prevent cascading. That solves the alt problem just as well and you can still recruit new people later on.

It's far from just a mechanic to prevent alting. I look very much forward to seeing how the world will develop when you'll have to make do with the people you meet in-game. Especially at the beginning of the world. :)

warrri wrote:The problem is for new comers. I don't see myself convincing a friend to try out this game, if he can't play with me and has to either run around possibly for days to find me (because if both of us spawn randomly there are absolutely no clues to what part of the map you are in unless you spawn close to the border, so he doesnt even know the direction he has to run) or play on his own. And how are you going to get new players from community forums to join your group if they simply can't?

Just approach it the same way you would to make your friends play a single-player game. ;)

Ok, i see what you're trying to do/what your idea for this game is. I just don't think it will work for multiple reasons. First of all, this isn't 2004 when WoW came out. Almost everyone is already in some form of internet community and generally prefers to play with them. I don't want to meet new people and there are better singleplayer games than haven.
Second, in a game with perma death, that is filled with griefers, playing with strangers you meet can be fun, but most of the time it just won't be and the guy you just met has no reason not to betray you.
But the most important one, may i present you the "Home" page: There are 287 hearthlings playing.
Among these, there are 54 from Russian Federation, 53 from Poland, 39 from United States of America, 33 from Republic of Korea, and 24 from Ukraine.

But you probably already considered all these things so i dont know what my point is, bleh.

That has been my position, at least. I seem to recall Jorb having displayed differing opinions at times, though, but I don't remember exactly. :)
