I've tried looking into colocation, but I don't really know where to look, to be honest.

I can't seem to find much good for handling of just one spurious server; the companies I've found seem to focus on far more massive operations involving whole racks and wanting me to "contact their sales department for a quote".

yep!!! but i guess the idea is to have it close to his home for fast maintaining (where the "all time access to datacentre" seems the biggest difficulty - mostly you'll get access cards when ordering 10U or more only ...)
