So that it's space is completely used, as you get 3 seeds per tile at full nature.

And most farmers are full nature. The other nice point about 18 is that it is divisible by 2, so people who want to be jacks of all trades also can fill it perfectly.

i want 36! also divisible by 2 and 3 and its the amount a chest has so you can do it 6x6(a square). Go.

5040 is a multiple of 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Note: I didn't take time to see if this is the lowest common denominator.

Yes, but what if you need to store more than 5040 seeds? I would hardly use something that only stored that amount. Now, 362,880 would be plenty.
