Why not just drag their bodies on
the back of a cart? it's about the
same lulz only people are somewhat
shocked by it.

If for example, the Murderer KlauE was captured by the Righteous Xanadu and enslaved in Xanadu HQ, the first attempt would be figuring out the conditions of release for the prisoner. Perhaps with some IRC or forum negotiating. Obviously someone who had captured him didn't intend to kill him, so maybe KlauE has some chance there once he's shown he's properly rehabilitated. Assuming that is, he doesn't mind logging in and working the Good Prince Jorb's fields for a week / month / seventeen years in order to earn his freedom.

Of course what would really happen is the Evil town of Wayneville would muster a counter-attack and free the hapless victim, who upon release would be free to continue his wicked ways. The upside being he didn't die. The screenshot of the, in-turn, captured Xanadu prisoners being paraded through the streets of Wayneville would be posted on the forums and generate much lulz and e-drama.

Suicide would of course be added as an option for those who did wish to (or could only) escape through death and inherit the ancestor. Xanadudeians would mass self-sacrifice as their only way of escaping the clutches of their new German Concentration Camp Masters.

The newly inherited characters then go back to plowing their fields / catching bunnies and sitting around in chairs talking about the weather.

Oh and by the way, captured slaves can log-out but in such a case, their character remains online getting hungry. They are of course fed via food troughs like all good slaves should be, or left to starve to death.

you know you guys really do have the worst ideas

far more terrible than the dev shenanigans that you complain incessantly about

That would be in the next update. Being able to carve up corpses and put the heads of your enemies on poles outside your gates, or decoratively along the top of your walls.

This enslavement thing could actually work, when you chain some one up you can select a task from a menu and set how many times they must do it. For example you could set it to craft X kuksas, meaning that the player must get X kuksas and put them into a chest that comes with the chainpost. Once a slaves task is complete he teleports back to his hearth fire, unless somebody is waiting there who isn't kin, in which case he teleports to a random location.
