I wonder if it'd be possible to regenerate the whole map while keeping the same shape and things on it. (It'd have to be the same shape of course.)
E: I know this means that qualities would all be tossed into the air and changed and planted trees would go away.

My friends help me to investigate the status of my over-ground village:
the area affected by nuke is just a bit larger than I though.
no post-nuclear cows, no glowing hemp fields... nothing left.

i will wait for official forum statement concerning affected grounds but till then there`s nothing left for me in this world.

Potjeh wrote:Now, onto the actual topic of the thread. Can't you regenerate the missing sections, Loftar? If you use the same seed they should turn out the same, right? That way people won't lose resource spots at least, if they're quick enough (and they should be, since they know the exact locations).

This is what I don't get. Before the game was back up, I think I (and everyone else) was under the impression that the map files had somehow been completely destroyed or some other sort of irreparable damage had occurred. I assumed that coming across these sections of the map would basically be a giant black hole with no map or terrain data associated with it at all. But after experiencing the areas first hand in the game, they appear to be just like the edges of the world where you'll encounter an invisible border. Everything within the map is still present (trees, terrain details, user created structures), they're simply inaccessible.

Could you (loftar) go into more detail about the exact corruption to the map files and why any sort of repair is out of the question? I admit I don't know much about how maps are stored in this game, but it appears (at least on the outside borders) that most of the map data is still intact.

from what i understand the sections of map are gone, but you won't ever see them (or the lack thereof), because, just like with world map edges, there is an impassable buffer zone around them.

to those who got their areas nuked, i feel your pain and im really sorry to hear that your game play got affected.
(i havent even logged in to check my places so i am not totally sure if im affected by this or not, yet.)
however, the priority of this game world as an alpha status is testing, not about being fair to every tester. they have gotten enough of noob world stats with the new curio system, and resetting world without anything new implemented has no meaning probably. so im sorry to say this, but please learn to deal with it. my condolences.

meanwhile, in case some people havent heard... (timestamp @gmt+9)

Yes, it's working just fine. If you can't log in, check the server status. Try the default client if the server is showing as up. If you're still having issues, you're either stuck in a busted area or you're having issues on your end with the clients.
