Just a few extra on-ramps and off-ramps can increase speeds on the super-highway dramatically.

Try this and report back.

I read here that cleaning Java cache helps, I learned how to do it from the Java page, and it does help.
Also I read that playing whith Hide function on helps, it does too.

So, please PC wise pleople think what can we do on our side and go public about it. Thx vm in advance. :D

Besides those 2 points, and speaking about server side now, I have to say that when my toon actually gets to do something (between the lag spikes and the time it stands still), it does whatever quicker than before the upgrade, so something that was done did have some result. IDK which, I believe the defrag because I noticed after it.

Thx vm Loftar for keeping us updated and still be working on this. :D

Edit: I forgot, my minimap finally updated.

So true, a little bit, but I added already 2 little bits, java cache and use hide function, so if more tips added maybe this would get to be somewhat playable until GMs find a solution.

manually defrag your filesystem when on windows OS after clearing the Java cache before you turn off your PC helps too a bit. normally Vista and W7/8 are doing it by themselves automatic but in case of playing Java online games like this there is a bit more fragmentation going on so it helps to run a defrag yourself

also toggle to show simplemap in minimap in Ender helps

And to all the clue givers:
loftar wrote:All filesystems are XFS. I suspect the lag spikes happen because of either XFS logging flushing, or by XFS' interaction with sync()-ing, but I have no hard proof. The practical effect, either way, is that some process (like the game server) might have to wait sometimes upwards of 10-20 seconds for some simple I/O operation like an open(), rename() or close() to complete.

I am finding this thread, hilarious, people that most likely don't know jack about computers suggesting to do completely un-related things to fix the lag, and most of the suggestions have completely nothing to do with anything causing this lag which Loftar has stated countless and countless times.

Why not just make it so we can host our own servers like minecraft does? Then we wont have to worry about waiting for anyone to upgrade a server or anything.

That would take alot more work then just fixing one problem in the server.

Plus its better if everyone plays on the same server.

More of a community.

Because unlike Minecraft, Haven is an MMO. It just wouldnt work with a low number of players. Removes like 70% of the games main points instantly.

We're not going to have that discussion here because it always turns into a shitstorm. Always.
