Loftar was in the Mirc Haven channel one night back during around the middle of World 5 and we all were bullshitting about Haven 2.0... Amongst other things tossed around, a combat/siege system somewhat akin to Tower Wars? with auto-manned archer npc's or the like to create defense in depth instead of static wall defenses. More siege engines to counter this such as trebuchets, ballistae etc etc. Wall climbing, pickpocketing, lockpicking, Maybe some alchemy type shit with potions and whatnot (Not certain about this one) a fluid system wherein all fluids can be freely poured into all containers and where seeds and whatnot have fluid like properties (Clarification on this system from someone?) The probably removal of Xroads and teleportation type travel to be replaced with other forms of travel.... etc etc. And all of that is either just from that night on irc or tidbits they've mentioned over the last year or so. I imagine farming will be more complex if the Salem system is back ported to Haven (I bet it will.) There was even some small talk about haven being redone in 3d ala' Salem although I hope not, I prefer isometric 2D.

I imagine that a lot of lessons learned from Salem will end up having an effect on the new Haven if not being directly back ported. I also imagine that the Curio system will continue to be.... tinkered with and revamped to steer a little bit away from alting. Anywho, some things to chew on..... Loftar stated that they had so much stuff to do with the revamp that they won't need player suggestions for quite a while. :P

The superpowers are superpowers because they have large numbers that are well organized, and they know the game inside out. If there was a reset now, with no changes between Worlds 6 & 7, we'd be right back here in a few months. You might think with the restart you'd be on equal footing, but you won't be, others will power-rush to murder and brick walls, and you'll be in more danger than now when you can find an abandon outpost with a prebuild wall.

If you don't like hermiting, join a group. What with Dis, Ainrain, and Winterfell all being at each others throats, if you can pull your weight they'd likely love to have some help. I personally don't like big groups, because I don't want to be banished to farming and gathering curios for the main fighters. If that's what you wanna do, there are people out there who would recruit you.

Start fresh, enjoy the game as is, once Salem is released and Jorbtar can put more work into H they will and World 7 will be different and exciting for everyone.

Fact is you didnt read my earlyer post... God I hate having to repete my self. So I won't.

ie. salem? (not a bad thing, it's a great system)

I like the idea of removal of porting but i'm curious as to what other forms of travel are in mind

I can imagine people flipping shit about that, i personally hate salem's system because it's just wierd and it forces the growth of things you don't really want right now in order to get what you do
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

No one knows. Presumably not for a long time.

How about limiting the World life time to, lets say, 6 months? Or an year? And for example, top 100 guys with largest character stats will be added to online Hall of fame afterwards?
That will allow new players to enjoy pure primeval world and also there will be another goal to raise your characters even more.

something like that.

world resets on this game is not done for players but for devs to implement changes.
it doesnt matter if you want one or not. it only comes when they want or need one.

To get to where Haven was made up with, some sacrifices are made in order for such implementations were to work.
So in order to get more features into the game, you would have to take apart Haven and Salem and rebuild it from scratch.

That's the only way I think that everyone can be satisfied with the game, as it will contain what people agree to and such.
But it also help the developers implement the same feature in a different view, like combat for example, and why not revolutionize it a bit?

Maybe if Haven was re-done in C or C++ then maybe we will get something good?

The language developed in has little to do with things. Java is nearly as powerful as C++, and is cross-platform compatible as long as proprietary APIs aren't used (such as for Android or Blackberry). The client could have been done in Flash if the devs had so desired. (Glad they didn't... horrible platform.) Otherwise, the server is in C.

But to add another thought about world resets: They aren't supposed to happen--EVER. It's sad that they do occur.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
