You don't need hunting to get a saw, just hang around a grasslands near a fox and some chickens, soon there will be plenty of dead chicks to pick up and butcher.

The thing none gets is cutting trees is fastest lp when you cant hunt foxes, boars and bears. So it would take 4 trees to get enough lp to get another skill. Now thats cleared up when the server is up lets clearcut!
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Clearcutting would be fine by me if stumps actually decayed like they should (it's realistic. Go to any park/woodland area and you will see decaying stumps).

More grassland = easier to farm, more animal spawns, etc.

Tree stumps should spawn Chants as they decay. You can actually gain loads and loads on LP a lot faster and with less stam drain by using the logs that you fell. Heck just collecting the boughs and making a Leanto gives a nice lump sum that you would otherwise lose.
