I think the lag spikes might have something to do with decay hits, for example I had carrots in stage 4 before a lag spike and as soon as the lag spike faded away they were at stage 5 same with plowed land becoming unplowed

Everyone knows what the problem is: Lag.

Loftar knows where the issue lays: slow I/O, exacerbated by the recent OS upgrade

Now there are several ways to address this:
1. Attempt to determine why the OS resolves the I/O communication so slowly. (Currently being worked on.)
2. Alter the code so it makes less I/O calls. (Major project/timesink, hopefully not being seriously considered as it may change game mechanics.)
3. Upgrade the server to a dedicated one with better hardware for a faster I/O. (Increased maintenance cost and massive timesink to switch everything over.)

In the end, only Loftar can do this work and the man has only so much time in a day. So, be patient... maintain your hearthlings and animals and eventually the issue will be resolved.

Either that or get used to playing Haven & Haven & Haven & Haven & Haven... <program crash>

<Log back in>
<Server shows you're already logged in>
<Wait 5 minutes>
<Log back in>

& Hearth with lag.

People are talking about it literally in the post above yours. Information has been stated constantly throughout the thread and reiterated by the devs. I'm not sure what else you want?

i'm just looking for loftar to tell me what the problem is, not hypothesises and estimated guesses.

4. asynchronous i/o operations. imposible in this case, because loftar server is single threaded, as far as i know.
