The Great Potato Famine wasn't until 1845 (which you pointed out), but potatos weren't in Europe until the 1530's, when the Spanish brought them over from South America. Tobacco follows about the same process of reaching Europe. It never came from China.
Other crops that wouldn't make the cut: Corn, chili peppers, tomatos, and chocolate
