Which makes me wonder when he will do a world reset. Becasue if he resets it later, then comes out with haven 2.0, people will be split. If he reset this world now, we could be sick of it by the times 2.0 is out, then a lot of us can move to that to test it out. Cuz if he never resets the world till 2.0 is out of beta, then we are all skrewed.

Why is that? I'm quite fine with the world staying around for years to come.

I can understand how starting over can suck and stuff, but this game wasnt really made to last forever. Claimed bases dont go away till the claim is broken (which wont break on their own), trees dont come back, etc. And with no level caps (which is a good thing overall) the imbalance of power can get pretty dramatic. Just imagine, if the world went on for years and a guy never died it could be possible to bash a brickwall with ur hands lol...

I feel like when they made the game, the servers wernt good enough so they didnt have the longevity of the game in mind. Hopefully in 2.0 they could have a few things like resources moving around and coming back, claims dissappearing on their own after a while, and trees growing back (and maybe having land types change with the growing forests?). This wouldnt solve the op players problem, but overall it would pretty much make the world able to last forever.

Break them.
There are too many trees to run out in the next few years.
The imbalance of power is irrelevant, you can make a character in 4-5 months that is just as powerful as the highest level characters of today, and they don't get much more powerful, due to diminishing returns, huge increase of LP required, people going full trad, and people dying.

I don't care about starting over, I love early world. I used to agree with you but I've changed my mind as of late, I think worlds can go on as long as they want and there is still opportunity for fun and there is still the possibility of being competitive, no matter how late you start.

With the environment, it wouldn't run out of trees, but theres nothing nice about "exploring", and having tons of little bases and cut down trees and stuff. Like think of in a few months a noob comes to the game, and is exploring around and stuff. The world is just a lot less nice of a place late world. And nobody is going to go around breaking all the random claims they see lol

And with the players getting op, I get what ur saying on that. But I'm a firm believer in the world needing to regen itself to last.

thats rather subjective. there are quite a few who love exploring the aftermath.

Thanks for the link, Ninijutsu.

Although I haven't actually been through a world reset yet (and wouldn't mind one), I'd also prefer that they don't reset in the near future. It's nice to be familiar with a world - know it's good and bad spots, the players near you, etc. The more long lasting it gets, the nicer it gets in that sense. But not only that. If one wants to start things from scratch one can just try out Hafen (which I'll do, while still playing the old one).

And for the exploring / abandoned villages comment: I think exploring the places where people used to live is way more entertaining than walking through forests. The newbies benefit from all the items left behind on cupboards and chests too.

Really? Wow that actually looks good. Hope the hills won't just be an annoying part of the game and actually have some kind of functions.
