Wakfu

Those are the top 5 most expensive items, number 5 already being purely cosmetical. On the following ranks basically 50% of the top sellers are purely cosmetical and they are the ONLY items that sell like hot cakes. You usually get rid of them minutes after putting them up, I tried myself. Useful gear? Takes days and weeks to sell if at all..

dofus and wakfu were already pay to win, because you can buy kamas(currency). Bad example.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

You cannot in Wakfu.

And that is besides the point anyway. I am just pointing out the in game market where exactly what I just described is happening. Cosmetical items being bought in shop become best sellers on the market = those spending a lot for cosmetics are the richest people in game.

Some people engage in pay to win and think it's not so bad. Those people are scum. Are you scum? It doesn't matter if an item is useful in itself if it has an ingame trade value it's pay to win. The fact that haven is relatively small and only a few people will pay to win does not make it any less pay to win.

I never played wakfu, but that looks like something similar to an auction house. We don't have that in haven, so it might be an exaggeration to think it will hurt the game.
Who knows though, it might.

Ill give you another example: EVE online. Those buying plex from online shop to sell them for ingame currency often end up losing expensive shit-"equipped" ships.

Well that is true HnH does not have a global market. Without teleportation the global market called forum is probably going to become smaller too. Nontheless it is going to have an impact on the local markets that are going to spread.

@Warrri: Not sure I follow. Isn't plex a currency? We were talking about purely cosmetical items being tradable. Selling anything with an already inherent value is much worse and I am really opposing that... Maybe you can elaborate a bit? I might have just misunderstood.

Nice to see you btw!

Plex are items that you can use to extend your subscription for 30days, but thats beside the point. You can consider both plex and cosmetical items just tokens. The process is the same. To get something useful from them, once you acquired them with real money, there has to be a) a demand for that token and b) a supply of the item you want, both coming from the playerbase. Pay to win is not so black and white. Once it involves the player-made economy, it is quite the opposite of "direct pay2win" and i am actually quite fine with that. The system in EVE works great, because EVE, just like haven, has permadeath (for ships) and thus those items get destroyed in the process.
Come to think of it, it would be awesome if items that a character has on him have a chance to be destroyed when he dies. Looting perfectly fine clothes from the guy you just cut up is kind of weird.

Ok but that is not really an argument at all. Just because there are people too dumb to make profit from this proccess does not mean it isn't giving an inherent advantage.

There are smart people playing the p2w game too and those are becoming rich off of it.

If you needed a reason to grief, it wouldnt be griefing now, wouldnt it?

Quite true! If you have a reason, it's not grief, it's JUSTICE!

It will be world 8. It is still JUST Haven & Hearth. (At least this is what I think I have read from the devs.)

Like most things, it's a rarity. I know people in EVE that get richer off scams of items and use that to buy PLEX (probably being sold by the ones that got scammed). They've just gotten too expensive the last few years for me, else I'd still be in EVE. (Still drop in every once in a while when I have some spare cash for a couple months.) Hell, even Blizzard has finally picked up on this sort of thing with 30-day game tokens.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
