2 clients max per IP and limit requests per second.

If you run one bot and another client where you play on this is not so bad as running 5 clients botting like crazy.

Also botting lumberjack is different from botting flax and linen. Botting lumber is slower as you need to wait longer to chop tree so there is not so much requests as it would be farming flax and making linen cloth.

Limiting connection per IP ... will of course prevent botter from connection from a other PC's or using other tricks to keep doing what they like to do.
Yea right.
If you only like to play with one client that fine. If others like to play with more than one ... that's fine to. Advertising some general limit just because you don't like what others are or might be doing is just silly. (especially whiteout any hard data so support your reasoning.)

A bot is just a other client. And I'm sure the Dev's (if they like to) can pick-out those accounts that flood the system ... when needed.
Remember, this game is alpha. And your invited to (freely and for free) play test it. And multi-clienting and botter are part of that test to.

AFAIK there are ways to bypass IP limitations...

...i'd be happy if only one client would run flawless with my G3 connection ;-) But in world 4 i had DSL and it was fun to build 2 pallisades at 2 places with 2 clients simultan. But botting or scripting - no thanks...

Another thing: Houses (their "insides") are in a different Universe as the " land" they are on - and those that where in nuked areas are just free floating now...like space ships with no harbour

And being nuked and have to get up from low level stuff is sure disappointing for me but i'll keep on and want those areas to stay how they are - part of HnH history...

...the only thing i'd wish loftar and Jorb to do is to renounce my Char from being LS at nuked village ...

One more thing we can do is write guidelines how to properly write bot scripts that would not make so much lag. As we all know lag can also affect bots to stop working/responding etc.
So when writing bot script there should be some "sleep" orders after each operation that send or receive data to or from server. That would probably reduce big traffic, make server more stable and also boting. Only downside is that bots would be little more slower than usual.

P.S.: I doubt bot script writers will obey to any rule, but anyway. It's a thought.

Actually, what is this opinion about botters causing lag based on?

Apart from this random guess:

Butko wrote:I blame new bot users for lag on server, sending too much requests in too short time as with normal playing wouldn't be case.

I have seen nothing else indicating that it's botters causing lag.

Yep. Probably because there is none! (just a other botters witch hunt ... to blame the lag on.)

Nono, incidentally just after the server crash that caused hardware corruption and nuked areas there was a whole new invasion of botters on HnH. That is the only logical explanation!

Or maybe the recent lag is related to that data corruption, but that is merely a wild conspiracy theory of mine...
