Any guesstimate when the beta starts? Any chance of late 2011, or will it have to wait till 2012?

First off, that game is shite, second, what about us Haven players? Granted, Haven isn't produced by Paradox but yeah, we are kind of you guys main fans?

Not something that I have heard. Our ambition is if anything to give early access to precisely you guys.

Love the choice of words "Malleable world" in a game featuring irrational (?) fear of witches :)

Not sure if you know what malleable means? it means "Able to be changed..." what does that have to do with fear of witches?

“The economy will be based around a store owned by the "game" that players can trade and purchase items from, " explained Björn Johannessen, Creative Director. "When trading you'll receive silver based on the value of the resource traded. With this silver you can then buy inaccessible resources or ones you don't want to spend time gathering. The store will also offer the option to buy silver with real world currency. It's key for us that all items will be purchasable with the in-game silver only, so all players, whether playing for free or not, can buy any item for sale ."

They're printing fiat silver :o

Or not, if buying with silver actually conjures items rather than pulls them out of a warehouse. Which would be kinda boring IMO, and might result in frequent bubbles and busts of multiple economic sectors (not that you need anything more than centrally planned prices for that).

I think the latter could be a successful payment model if implemented right. Something like levying a tax on trades through this central market, and selling this tax silver for real money. This means that real cash trading would be limited in volume, but wouldn't destabilize the economy. If they go with taxes they better not implement tea or harbours, though ;)
