will give it a shot but doubt im going to stick around without people i give a damn about.

team up with randoms, especially with halfhearted guild mechanics? yea no, fuck your little social experiment

Don't mind jackard, he gets cranky when he forgets to take his medication.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

I'm right there with Jakard. The social experiment facet of this project just holds it back from the potential it has, in my opinion.

The idea of not being able to spawn with others does leave a bitter taste, granted I'll still be playing but I'm cautious to the idea of playing with strangers.

I am probably gonna stick with the new world of haven because java + 3d + shittop = nuclear temperatures.
But I might be compelled if this game isnt just a salem clone with havens content. But the idea of not being able to spawn together originates from salem, and I dont remember many people saying if this was a great feature, and its mainly ignored due to being able to let your friends spawn to your base after building some stone.

I think the social experiment idea of randomly generated groups (like village sized groups) would be actually really entertaining and would bring many people who didn't already play haven1 because people dont need to sign up on a pesky forum to be in a village (because not everyone has the autism to start alone, and ask every person he sees if they would allow him to join).

Not true. Salem has spawn mechanics.

Since we're talking about salem mechanics, here's one I've seen warriors praising that gave crafters huge headaches: The ability to consume food without any form of effort or time input. It caused a lot of supply issues due to a single warrior being able to clean every cupboard in town in a single sitting. The consumption being that fast made it hard to ensure food was shared without headaches, and made the effort of crafting it feel devalued since it disappeared nigh on instantly.

Is that part of the salem system being used as inspiration?

Ah man though, I still remember the Wortbaked Wartbite dish from that game. I don't know why, but I had an unusual fondness for murdering crickets and making that particular dish.

You cant spawn together.

Forcing one person to build the base makes it really hard to be able to make everyone be on the same level, which is not very fun. And from what i remember, in salem the more "study types" you have it doesnt make other study type harder to get, so technically having one person do all the studying and crafting seems more efficient.

the humor system was stupid it was a major mistake in the purity system was a complete piece of shit I love the quality system of haven
I hate the cooking of crickets as well all the places I had to abandon to find perfect purity
at least you were able to farm underground for a while I don't know if they ever fixed it
and only 4 stats you have to worry about in Salem the stats on Salem were more difficult to deal with than the stats on Haven
to me plowing dirt and drinking water is very cheesy at least it's not super crappy like the system in Salem I hope you came up with a better solution

I don't see a random spawn problem, as long as you still have "party direction arrows". And even if you don't, still not that big of a problem. Cartography will finally have some use.

You know I am amazed that so many ppl have a 'give up and die' attitude over the random spawning, to actually not play a game you enjoy because you can't start it with a friend seems totally alien to me ..... and that's not because I don't have any friends, lol, or because I hermit here, I play with others in other games and plan on joining with a few ppl in 'hafen' ..... it's just not that big a deal, where is your sense of adventure!? :D

I'm pretty certain it won't be long before a map is available and in the meantime you just head in the same direction ..... lol, everyone ends up in the N/W corner and we can form the biggest Haven faction ever! 8-)

The only thing that will drive me away from Haven is if it ends up being Salem. :P
