I don't like to interact with other players either. They're hostile in most cases.

Which is where the forums are invaluable - over time you get a feel for ppl and by asking questions, posting stories and becoming involved you make friends and allies that you can interact with in-game.

All of my closest friends have been made via the forum or pm's, with just two exceptions. Even hostile encounters can usually be solved with a polite and enquiring pm. (Not all mind, just as in rl, not everyone clicks.) :)

I can't be the only one who braves dealing with players in-game. Almost no one has a clue how combat works, so you can probably take them or egress if you need to.

I always do, I try to talk to everyone I meet in-game, but, I have to be honest - most just port without saying a word, the next group attack, without saying a word - - then i've had ones who trick me into something, like, "i'm stuck, can you help me?" and then attack, or, "here's a gift :)" then just attack and the smallest group are those who do actually talk - which has about an even number of friendly talk or go away and leave me alone type talk.

All that said though, I do still always try, which is how I met the people who live in my other claim. :)
I also had a couple of friendly nieghbours early on, but they got raided quite often (building too close to rivers) and eventually moved off or quit.

And, you are right about the lack of combat knowledge. I have little to no clue, lol, but when-ever I have been attacked and stood my ground they have either run off or I have them ko'd - :) - that is, ofc, if I haven't run first, which I have if out-numbered or they look 'meaner' than me.

I waited for world 5 reset because of this.

Kinda ties in with the "Don't interact much" posts. I've never quite understood griefing. I guess pvp can be ok if legit grievencies and diplomatic breakdowns and so forth, as in real world. But H&H has always been bad about attracting childish grriefrrs who just go through dessimating everyone. Never quite understood it since if you run everyone off who's left to "see" your nice town, or envy your nice setup or hard worked characters, no one to trade with, or feast with, or have any real interations with as many nooobs fanatasize about upon finding the game. "Oh so cool, can make a nice town and work, and have feasts and meet neighbors and trade and show off my uber efficient town designs and...and ..and, what a cool real like sandbox"...uhhh nope...lol So I understand the above statement, and ya have to love the game enough to just try to settle for some quiet corner instad of hoping to show off your work to passers by. It's always been quite an under-utilizatioin of the game and what it could be.

I ty to interact when I do see someone, but never feel as comfortable as one should in a social sandbox. Which is sad for such a unique game.

I talked to people in game all the time when I played, and I mostly got good reactions. You just have to relax and stop fretting about losing your precious character.

I havnt had many bad experiences atall with people ingame, I say that after having lost two villages and a small island settlement I had with friends but that was when you had faction assholes looking for something to destroy because they can. But often I come across people, even those who could kill me, and its often a friendly outcome. I have never actually had any kind of combat or siege due to some kind of quarrel, just as above, faction assholes looking for something to destroy.

This. People always found it bizarre how many characters I had die but come on...realistically? it's a video game... No matter how many times I die my wife and family is fine and I still have money. lol

Click punch, target ant. If you're on a new character then use either Block or Oak Stance, depending on if you're Melee Combat or Unarmed Combat respectively. Punch the ant then Jump until your attack (red) bar is decently full. Repeat until victory.
