I think people are missing the point. We know the donation button exists, but we don't feel like donating really makes the development progress any faster. There is no indication that it does, at least as far as I know. So what I think Bob is trying to get across is that whether they stick to the donation system or the in game transactions they need to make it clear that they will be putting all of their efforts into making significant progress on Haven because of it. You wouldn't pay a construction worker to only work when he feels like it, would you? This is all under the assumption that J&L want money for Haven, which it's possible they don't care much for the money. I'd just like faster progress on Haven and I'd be willing to pay for it, but as of now I don't feel like paying will make much of a difference.

Jorb was pretty hesitant to add the donation button.

because of tax laws, not because of a vow of poverty

Just saying they don't seem to be motivated by the possibility of more money from Haven, which is why I question their desire to make profit from the game. Though I actually wish they were motivated by money and would allocate more time to the game's development for a one time payment from players or optional in game purchases.

Bob_the_Cat wrote:So yesterday an idea came to me that would make haven money (so they can work on it more) and would help with the alt problem.

When you make an account, you would get a free character slot, that will be like free trial for 2 weeks. This gives them time to try out the game, and see if they like it. After the trial period, it locks the slot, until they pay like 5 bucks. If they want more character slots and accounts and stuff, they will need to pay more (but maybe after the first slot they would cost less, because you can only have 1 of them on at a time because its the same acc).

Thank you for the novel suggestion!
