@Kaios
I'm a supporter of custom clients with open sourcecode that are usable by everyone!!! I'm against closed or nonpublic custom faction clients! Personally i only use Enders client with some graphical modding - Apoc or Anemone just to check stuff to help other users of those ...

I'm supporting coders and thus that experiment with bots for their coding experience - i totally refuse to use bots myself - everyone should know that already as i stated it different times - even those that team up with me for a project ask first if i'm ok if they use bots ... while i must admit i did 2 trades for equipment that prolly had botted parts made by trader long time ago (which where 2 of the only 3 trades i did the whole world anyway) ... i do accept when ppl think they need to bot for any reasons (like not being able to play 24/7) but that's not my playstyle ...

"Why should i play an MMO game that i don't play myself?!?" (Except a neural network SP game in the past which main focus was to make the bots better self learning) - with a background in years of MP FPS tournaments i sure put some support efforts into the Antibot measures you all are familiar with nowadays ...

I hope with less tedious actions in hafen there won't be a need for bots for those that just want to play outside the rat race ... like it is now ...

Prolly just because i'm not botting it is intrinsic to my playstyle to be able to use different accounts and alts ... (while i started with the plan just to have one focussed char this world - my inactive partners forced me to blow up my "alt worker army")

Something that takes some kind of investment; 1x Stick, 1x Beautiful Dream, 1x String, 1,500 lp, One time per character (Item disappears when you're within x spaces of target) and it allows you to track like the criminal elements, but to find your Party member?

Not as much of a gimme as hearth spawning, as you still have to travel to them, and in most cases, you'll have to buy boat building and other skills, but it could be a help.

I can see how a mechanic as such could be abused, for instance build a macro that moves direction of the pie slice, but it would be another layer of abstraction, without being a totally noob-unfriendly solution.

I'm going to play either way, party finding or not, and I'll find some way to get everyone to me. That's half the beauty of being a wanderer.

This idea is pretty good.

Well that's fair but you cannot deny that botting and custom clients have over time caused many issues in this game that have either ruined the overall immersion or have forced the developers to make some rather significant changes (such as the curiosity system). Your support of them only perpetuates the problem.

In the same way that you hope for less tedious actions to reduce botting (me too so don't misunderstand), I am also hoping that they implement other similar features or mechanical changes that negate the need for multiple characters as well. That's not to say one shouldn't be able to have alts if they so choose, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be made more difficult considering this is a game in which survival is the main element.

Limiting consumption rates guarantees that someone who started 6 months late can never catch up stats ever. Good or bad it's what it is.

What I want to know do we get party arrows or not. Since you admit the social experiment will be circumvented please give party arrows.

Well, we haven't really decided on the exact mechanics; it's quite possible that hearth secrets per se will remain so that you can kin and possibly also form a party with people, but in the case of the latter, there will at least not be any long-distance party arrows.

I hope it's changed.

I feel like the fact that Jorb is even discussing this means they have conceded to allow at least the hearthsecrets and party arrows but some confirmation would be nice.

When you're talking about how annoyed you are that the alt "abusers and exploiters" have forced the developers to change aspects of the game in a way that you dislike, you can't just forego the fact that botting and custom clients have done the exact same thing to this game in a variety of ways.

Botting/scripting is not a legitimate style of play no matter how much you or borka or xcom want it to be.

Good to know there is a legitimate "Kaios" style of play, to which all other players can be pre-judged against. And that everything that changed something to the game is equally bad, and should all be equally condemned. And that failing to do so makes you the worst player type in the game. A botter.

You sure got a way with words.

The majority consensus on this forum is that bots are bad and without them the game would be better, it's not a "Kaios" style of play it is just stating the majority opinion which is one I happen to agree with.

Also I wasn't saying any particular change was bad or good, just that there is a cause and effect.

If it's an escalating scale, as I'm willing to believe Jorbtar are working with, there will be a midway point that people can catch up to, perhaps not with ease, but I doubt it will keep the lower level players that way forever. It seems more of a way to counter bucket grinders and swamp bots, as well as the groups that are willing to exploit to massive potential to stay lightyears ahead of the rest of the system,

As it stood, people were already outdistanced by the more veteran players, on a scale that they simply couldn't catch up on. It didn't directly affect day to day play, just major events and world economy to a degree. With the change in quality system to go along with the anti-grind measures, it seems like they're leveling the graph for characters, at least imo.

The thing is, there's no even semi-reliable way to map accounts to real persons.

Maybe we haven't made it clear enough, but the spawning mechanics are controversial even when discussing them amongst ourselves, and it is certainly very possible that we'll change them in various ways as time goes on, but we'll certainly try without party-arrows are HS spawning from the outset if only to see how it works out and what happens.

Tacheron wrote:Or even better, allow HS spawning for the first 2-3 days in the game

My line of thinking is, if anything, the exact opposite. I'd like the start of the world to be less predetermined. Once the world starts getting mapped and whatnot, adding party arrows or something would make far less difference anyway. Don't read that as a guarantee of what's going to happen, though.
