Optimally, I'd like to make it so that a new player, upon creation, can immediately start by a village's idol instead of the RoB, but I'm not sure how that would be made to work in any reasonable way.

Introduce a "show closest village" option that points to a village the same way a scent points to a 'perpetrator'.

I'm sure goons have the resources to make a few waypoints that would allow newbies to travel to goontown. In fact, they could be places with beds and n00b training areas.

Oh man, this update totally caught me off-guard. I'm now in a middle of uncharted territory, surrounded by lvlX everything, with no seeds or tools of any decent quality. And when when i try prospecting, all i get is "no minerals found". Seems like some jerk has already set up buildings at all mine spots. And now i cant even port to RoB to grab stuff from my storage alt.

Shit sucks. But... the thing is that devs dont really have anything to do with this. These updates are like weather, they might be highly inconvenient and fuck up your plans big time, but its not like you can do ANYTHING about it, so being angry about it is plain stupid.

Seriously. "Stop making updates which make my life harder!!!1111" - or what? You will post an angry/whiny post on forums? You will quit the game? Yeah, big deal. It's not like the devs get any money from you. The game is theirs, they can do whatever they feel like. If the game becomes no fun for you, you just quit, silently. Or try to convince them you are right. Whining is not effective at that, seriously. They are not your mommy who might just give you the candy you want so that you stop fucking crying.
I hope the devs will soon come to the inevitable conclusion that you can never please all the players, and every serious change inevitably causes a shitstorm of varying magnitude, and just stop caring bout it, doing whatever they think is good without trying to make escuses for the unhappy players.

I suggest that sleeping for 8 hours in game time should be all thats required to completely restore the buff.

I can't wait to see how much alcohol or other consumables reduces the buff.(hoping for a lot)

This seems to depend on bed quality. I made the best bed I can manage, and the recovery rate seemed quite reasonable. (It helps to be a farmer, with good flax plants.)

I used level 30-40, what are you growing?

Hmm, Interesting. I used a mix of fiber from 30-50, since I ran out of the good stuff, woven on an excellent loom by a guy with good sewing. I think the resulting linen was in the 40s, but don't remember for sure now. I also had planks in the low 30s.

Oh ok my linen was 20ish and so were my planks. Do you have any info on the rate at which your bed restores weariness? with 38 agility I was at what appeared to be full weariness, after sleeping for 8 hours IRL its down by 15-25%. At this rate It would take me approximately 32 hours of logged out time to restore my weariness. So my character would sleep for 4 in game days. RIP VAN WINKLE IMO

Hmm, my sleeper has agility 57. I think he had about a 1/8 debuff, which cleared in around 2 RL hours. I'm not sure precisely though.

Well I'm screwed, I lost my key a while ago so I'm trapped inside my palisade. I don't have a bed yet because I was trying to make one.

This is why we should be able to kick out our own hearth fires.

Also, I miss "light my fire" when lighting fire, "light" is so bland in comparison.
