Just some guesswork but its not hard to predict that he might not have the same ambition toward Haven as he had before. Its a hobby and his not picked it up in 8-10 months. It's highly unlikely he ever will, I mean how often do you go back to old time consuming hobby's when the climate in your life changes? even after Salem he might just not have the will or the interest to pick up Haven. I'm just glad that he haven't pulled the plug on the servers after all the trouble its given him.

Thank you Loftar for keeping the servers up and running. Hope you return one day and if you don't, its been an awesome ride. Hope this world goes out with a bang, dual hard drive crash or something, not by having it plugged.

or another substation blowing up that takes the servers, combined with a house fire at jorbtar's house destroying all his backups of the source.

That would be a good way for it to go.

They're paying money {real money! Gasp!} to rent a damn server for this game. Why does everyone think that the games going to go broke in the near future? As long as They keep paying for the server, then the games not dead. Sure, people can stop playing, the lag can get exponentially worse, but the game will just become deserted, not dead or shut down or any other bullshit that you people seem to conjure up.

Loftar said he is looking for colocation - that means having his own server hardware placed somewhere and the company he rents the colocation space from is taking care of infrastructure things like power, cooling and security.
That way he can maintain any hardware problems himself when he's got the time to do so and is not bound to services like he is now with Hetzner which is also far away from where he is.

I read it like: I do care and i'm looking for solutions to handle it in a way that suits all needs best.

So how can we "zealots" ( :P ) help him?!? Being patient, play, stopping pressure and donate... ;)

And the "kill it" kids can drop me a PM when arrived at a south german airport, have a car rented and are ready to get instructions where the server is located...

Exactly how I read it. All this talk about him abandoning Haven and Hearth is just absurd "conspiracy" talk.

Something's happening. The server is shutting down.

"Currently saving all maps – 81/149 maps in world 0/464 saved..."

This is so exciting.

Is it possible that what ever is causing the lag to be so bad is also causing problems with the hard drive? It just seems like the hard drive is having to be replaced too often and lag just gets worse.

Maybe power source issues are causing damage to the hardware. Disks are the first thing to damage when that happens. If you are changing disks often then it's very likely that you have a failing power supply.

Maybe the world is somehow corrupted making this shitlags. Well the world - it's pretty OLD and BIG with tons of shit on it and there are people that use different clients/programs and other java stuff (i don't know, something is causing it :/) or overuse game mechanics to broke it..

I don't like and want to say it but maybe there should be a new world or another world just for Lag test.

Just saying.
