I'm neither sad nor happy about the situation, it simply became what it is. I also wouldn't go so far as to call anyone troglodytes. I feel that a lot of resentment was built up when JLo went to work on Salem but everyone is still who they are. Simply, I look forward to what Hafen will offer and maybe when people aren't so ready to snap at JLo. =)

Well, the community is built around a game where griefing each other, killing eachother and paving hakenkreuzen into a persons front yard is considered normal. Not exactly the community for a friendly chit chat about the game's progress. :D

Salem wasn't my cup of tea but there's certainly some really good elements in that game that I would really like to see carried over, so people will just have to accept that they worked on Salem and got good ideas from it, progress in Haven one was never halted for it so I don't really see the issue.

Beyond that... Jorb and Loftar are free people, so I don't see a reason why they should even care what people think about what they work on  but I guess it's something we all do. That being said, we're not paying them so I don't think we get a say in what they work on. Instead be happy we still get to play this game even with server costs etc. :D

I disagree. Vast majority of people from ye mystical era of dev communication (aka up to world 3) are gone and replaced by people who post stuff like "YOLO #REKT M8!".

While this is objectively true, it doesn't mean those that remain, and those that left, don't harbor some negative feelings about the Salem experience. Even some of the "newer" players have some feelings towards it. I would also argue that we had pretty good communication going on through world 4 and even through part of world 5. It's difficult to tell for world 4 though just because of how short that world was.

The updates had slowed down by the last ~3 months of World 3, a month before they announced Salem. Look how many update announcements there used to be per month: http://pastebin.com/NdXHf781

Harboring negative feelings about Salem is perfectly reasonable because the whole thing was just a big fiasco that set Haven back by years.

i'd say it's a bit short-sighted to just blame it on salem development - don't forget their living status and stages of live had changed too since W3 ...

if i'd imagine i had to make a living, develop myself in coding or artistry, hassles with market/ publishers, develop the game i want to do and to feed this community too: "f*** where do all the holes in my wall come from?!?!?"

I guess there will be a time when all is settled a bit and communication will be more again ...

Should've just introduced a cosmetics cash shop in Haven.

I kind of wish it had never happened. But maybe they at least learned things from Salem that will help them make Haven 2.0 good, we can hope.

I truly hope so!

I would like to see them do it, just to see how successful it could be.

Right before we started working on Salem, we were, in fact, on the verge of implementing payment for Haven. I still stop once in a while to try and imagine what the alternate universe in which we pursued that path instead looks like today.
