screw this quality update, i had 2 Q105 bear tooth talismans that now show up as "Quality 26+"

The quality is still the same. You just need to raise perception now, to see what quality it has exactly.

What he means to say is that it is complete and utter bullshit. The fact that we need higher perception to see quality is too over the top, with such a vague reading. If it gave us an estimate, that would be better, but just an all out 26+ is silly.

I have about 5 bear hides, some of which are q34 and some which are q48, I don't want to accidentally use my high quality bear skins for something that doesn't need it, or perhaps I use a low quality bear hide to make a bear cloak. I'd be pretty pissed.

I don't know about you guys, but I can tell the quality of something by looking at it. I think we should at least get a vague estimate of how high something is.

Bear cape, q40-50, or q40-60 even. That is better than a plain old q26+...

No you silly and even if you could go over 100% then it would be 120% and not 140.

yeah think so too, a vague estimate makes things easier and more sense.

but, i think sami is also right. raise your stats evenly, then itll work out just fine. or live with the consequences.

To reply to this once more:

Why make the crop QL be reduced by your stat too? I can live with the +50 nerf, but now the only one who can access crops is the one with the highest farming in our village.

The farming change makes perfect sense. And as Loftar said, I can't even understand why farming would be so different from the other professions in the first place. The change simply corrected it.

The new quality system is annoying. I shouldn't be able to ever make an item that is greater than a quality that I can perceive. But if you change it so that we can only craft up to our highest visible quality, then you are basically making perception the most important stat, indeed, nearly the only important stat for anyone non-combat so that would make it worse. If you're absolutely bent on keeping this feature, the suggestions made previously about getting an estimate rather than simple knowledge that it is above your ability to see, might be better.
