What you're just saying has been tested and said a million times already. In addition: no. That isn't the problem at all.

well hate to call it, but how the lag is acting currently, it wouldn't suprise me if the server crashes within the next hour

You can do better?!? Don't think it's his code as we know it had been running with much less lag ;)
Also i do wonder what makes you still post here with doing nothing more but foul statements? I never
thought you're someone who needs a garbargedump forum...

@Vesanus if you would read / search over the forums here you'd get a clue - it has been said often enough...
it seems it's a problem with the filesystem running on the server and it's journaling from what i understand...

Sorry, loftar's lazy server management which is also directly related to coding and running an online game. ;)

That better?

k - this is your opinion which i can accept :P

But i do understand the workload Loftar would have to do in fixing - let alone thinking about testing different Kernels and settings makes me shiver...and with Salem in Development we all know priority...

In all honesty there's no way they should be hosting/paying for a dedicated server for the game in its current state. I'm not completely aware of the current situation but it would almost be better to move the server back somewhere local where they can dictate the filesystem and fix the lag without completely overhauling the system. I doubt the bandwidth requirements of ~200 players would hamper a local connection.

I sure hope that Paradox is hosting their Haven server with their Salem stuff because the idea of J&L paying out dedicated hosting fees every single month to keep this piece of trash up and running makes me cringe.

this is exactly why i think they're crazy to have even spent the money replacing the HD, or why people even still play this game. i mean how many people are actually donating?
i really need to find a good signature
