Somehow people got it into their mind that without movement combat (aka you move at the wrong time you're dead just because) there is no skill at all in the combat system. You know all those silly stances maneuver and different attacks? You like have to choose which ones to use it's not always just sting and hope to win. You can claim there is a best combo of those and it might be true but that's a balance problem and nobody is stopping you from using movement to mess with the timing but the problem is right now you move at the wrong time you die that's not skill that's easy mode for people with numbers in their names who think they are great.

I logged on just so I can post this.

Don't you guys think that a debate about combat would be more appropriately suited to a different thread so we can actually watch for updates on the new world, rather than having to go through fifty pages of people dramaing at eachother only to see nothing new has been posted?

Well Jorb, ya seeing what we're all seeing?

Severely reduce movement penalty or give a moving hit like 1/2 weight.

The alt menace has killed perma death.(but I guess that's gonna take more time) a Band-Aid fix? make curios only mature when your online(yea a lot of alts will be logged in, but at least they could die if found, but not a real big deterrent)

I have a feeling if you would do something along them lines, your baby would recover.

But what do I know.

What about the whole: "The real skill lies in the interaction that comes before combat"? Nonsense? If so why? Potato salad?


@Topic: This might be highly provocative but maybe the curiosity system is the bigger problem here. Combat too, movement combat needs ot be rmeoved, no doubt...but maybe the non-existance of permadeath led to this whole gun-slinger attitude ruling the game. I know quite a few people want the old xp system back. At first I did not agree with them, but maybe there is some truth to it.
