What doth that mean knave?
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

oh, here i found it for ya

Red rabbit comments from this page
and going on for a few pages.

If i didn't directly say why bolas are a
bad idea in those pages... i'll say it one
more time, as people have repeatedly
suggested bolas or a slowing ranged
weapon in general to be added.

(Just a few points of the top of my head)

1.) Entirely required for all end game
players on both sides, no questions.

2.) Overall only generates a global slow
in the combat and greatly favors those
that bot extra characters to get the slow
out faster.

3.) If the aim is similar to current aim
system it would leave a 2000 ua char's
life up to chance. Is he hit by the slow
before anyone else? yes? He dead.

4.) All people now only use boats as bolas
are overpowered and create too much of
a risk of instant death if more of your guys
than theirs get hit first. No one leaves their
boats ever unless they've landed a bola first.

5.) Incredibly anti noob. Noobs now have 0
chance to escape, they're chased down and
slaughtered and all they can do is watch as
you sprint up and they try to crawl away.
All their work gone, they quit 90% of the time.
I'd just straight up roll up on a random, bolas,
switch to sling, shoot him, and keep moving.
I don't have to waste any time, probably not
even have to stop moving, no inconvenience
to me to drop him

I don't think you are really understanding what I was getting at, I'll quote the relevant part that negates about 80% of the issues you bring up:

Kaios wrote:To add, this should be something that would have a time variance between uses, I don't really know how that would be implemented depending on what type of weapon is used but the point would be that you'd have to use it strategically.

So, there should be a cooldown involved between uses that forces you to actually think about how you intend to attack, defend or escape using some amount of strategy. The weapon types and the effects themselves could vary greatly allowing even further strategy to play a role in how this would function.

As an example I will go with a couple of the weapon types given here already, the Bolas and the Caltrops.

#1: You're the attacker and you've spotted a hearthling, your bolas is at the ready and you strike from a distance. The player is tripped and stunned for about 3 seconds! Unfortunately for you however, you were trying to be sneaky and decided to throw your bolas while you were 5 seconds away and the hearthling gets up and begins to run. Now he's got the advantage because your immobilization technique is on a cooldown and now he may have one of his own that he is free to use at any point during the chase.

#2: You're attempting to escape your foe, you've got the lead but he throws his bolas and you're down for the count momentarily. As he closes in to strike you pull your trusty caltrops out of your ass and throw at his feet causing your opponent to be slowed in his movement for a short time thus allowing you the chance to escape considering his bolas has already been used.

I could try and think of more scenarios but I'm not really sure what the point would be in trying to convince you that this could be a decent implementation if given some thought based on the content of your post. You've been playing too much League of Legends my friend, and don't pretend you give a fuck about the "noob" please as if it is even difficult to kill one now. A second reason I feel this conversation with you would be a fruitless endeavor is because you are basing a lot of things on how combat is currently in Haven rather than how it will be which we all have no clue about whatsoever. My idea is something that could be thought about and implemented, you are trying to refute it based on information that doesn't actually matter any more.
