Did you guys switch to a managed approach or a different language for the server. (H&H is pure C if i am not mistaken).
What about the client language ? will it be moddable ?

Loftar mentioned that the code for the client, more specifically that for the UI, is much nicer than that of Haven. Allowing for people to modify it easier.
I would assume from this that it will be mod-able.
The rest, there really isn't sufficient data that I've seen to make a decent conjecture.

They (not sure if it was Loftar or Jorb) basically said "Go for it". I don't think they're going to release the source for the client, but it's very, very simple to reverse compile Java object code. Hell, if you're good enough, you can just read the object code and code in that.

They said that client would be written in java?

Think it was stated in the live video, but I don't recall off the top of my head. Someone did ask about modifying the client, though. It has been stated here in this thread that the Salem client is going to be Java. They're going for open platform implementation here. Otherwise, the graphics could be much better than what has been demonstrated so far.

They were continually making progress on it until they stopped to work on Salem.

They said in the video that they want stronger players to have an advantage over weaker ones. Using mountains to wall in your village is only going to keep young players without the mountaineering skill out. It's almost equivocal to putting a personal claim on your round-pole fenced area. I don't think that it's going to prove that big of a deal whether or not not you mountain in your village.

For those interested in Alpha Testing, if you really want a good chance of getting into that I suggest actively playing Haven & Hearth.

Hmm. that seems odd to me, what is everyone that played haven and quit until the salem release supposed to do? I know of quite a few people that should be in the alpha, that quit until it came around.

I'm thinking it's more of who's active and supportive than who's just actively playing.

i think its based on account register date.

all the 2009 registered folks should get in alpha first, if they request it, imho.
