How about you keep such bullshit to yourself, no one is telling you have to, that doesn't mean you should attempt to discourage others for whatever stupid reasons.

If you're going to try to discredit someone at least back it up.

What if you look for a company willing to invest in the game and do some developepment? Your idea is pretty original and interesting, but developing a mmorpg is no easy task, theres no way you could pull something like Notch did with minecraft, you got to run the game for people check it out. Yes, eventually you would had to give in to some demands of this investor, players would be pissed, some would quit etc. But the other way would probally take you the path that moot took. With a couple of thousands dollars debt.

AFAIK Dwarf Fortress isn't owned by a company and is still a relatively successful game.

You mean, like, remove Creamy Cock, for example? Or the Schlong Shaped Sea? Deer Dongs?
Would be a sad day indeed. Good thing it's not gonna happen.

DF isnt online. They dont have to keep a server running. And i know that having a big company messing with a indie game wouldnt be a bed of roses, but for this game to grow it needs money. In order generate money, it needs players. To handle more players it would need a better infrastructure. And this infrastructure requires money. This is an mmo, you cant compare to other single-player indie games wich development only require time and good ideas, it needs a good server running with enough bandwidth, and thats not cheap.

So, unless the devs get a wtfhueg loan or find an investor, even having a great game design and amazing gameplay potential they wont have enough incoming to dedicate their whole time to the game development and pay for better hardware and server bandwidth. The players must first accept unpleasant and commercial changes if they want the game to survive. Or you can all donate montly 15-30 bux so they wont have to make these changes.

Who says the game has to grow right now? It's currently in alpha, and there's plenty alpha testers. Once it goes gold the devs can switch to a subscription model and work their way up without selling their game to someone who'll constrain their creativity.
