Heh, I use that when Xarx is taken. I spell it Charon though.

Xarx, you're right. It is spelt Charon. Atleast, that's how the Romans spelt it, and afterall, it was their deity. He'd ferry souls across the river dividing life and death. He'd usually take a coin for pay, which was placed in the deceased persons mouth.

I'd like to implement bridges sooner or later, but right now, it's very far from obvious how I would make bridges would work, so it'll probably be later rather than sooner. I do not want to implement them "the map altering way", since that would destroy the information that there once was water beneath.

Not if you make a separate "bridge" tile type that wasn't used for anything else.

You've actually got that mixed around, Charun is how the Romans spell it, Charon is the Greek way.
They are pretty different but serve the same purpose, As you said Charon is the Ferryman of the river Styx and Charun is this demon looking thing which guides you into the afterlife.

One session: Finish quality implementation.

One session: New creatures and herbs.

One session: Geology skill for mines. Misc.

One session: Make map expandable.

In that order. Optimistically speaking three sessions. Aiming at a week and a half to two weeks. Assuming nothing unexpected, of course.

After the map release we'll probably be working through a couple of these points.

1) More balancing of black skills. We have a couple of fresh takes that are hopefully solid. (Involves implementing character buffs which has lots of other potentially fun uses.)
2) Rafts, mounts and chairs. (I.e. Make the dude graphics capable of interacting with objects)
3) Domestication of animals
4) Major rework of all character related stats. Overhauling both food and combat to higher degrees of realism. Beating some sense into the food production line to get rid of arbitrary FEP assignations.

Not necessarily in that order. After that I think we'll be ready to return to quests, although I hate putting it off again.

Also on the foreseeable horizon are expanded personal beliefs, ancestral worship.

The hope is, basically, that the new map with quality, terrain, features, creatures, herbs and metals will keep us stocked on relatively fresh content for a while, while we do other stuff.
