Cave entrances are on the many natural cliff faces, but only on the east-facing and south-facing cliff faces. (read: not the 'thin' side of the cliff face) Currently it is unknown if they connect to one another, if enemies spawn in them, or if they are simply large randomly generated holes in the ground similar to mines. Presumably (read: i'm not sure) you can mine in them like a normal mine, so in a way, they're a easy source of metal for characters who don't have the skills to find and build a mine.

1.) you cannot build hearths in caves
2.) you cannot mine in them
3.) there are "stone chippable" stone formations inside.
4.) they are HUGE. like MASSIVE.
5.) I have confirmed they have atleast one type of herb inside
6.) someone in irc was saying they found a underground lake that there friend drowned in... so be careful while spelunking.
7.) I am 99% sure no animals are inside at this time.
8.) it seems you CAN build some buildings in CERTAIN areas in the caves.. but in general can't.

Actually those chippable thingies are pretty small.

Mushrooms obviously. Eat them and raise your dexterity attribute.
They might be useful in some kind of recipe....no clue what exactly right now.

This has been quite a problem for us, actually. From my experience, it seems that the English language is very unkeen on actually using any proper names for various mushrooms -- all you hear people say is, simply, "mushrooms". Is this prejudice of mine actually true, or have I just not been listening closely enough?

I think it may be a yuppy thing. I know many names of mushrooms, and routinely buy several. But when I was growing up, normal grocery stores had one - imaginatively called "mushrooms" - and everything else was deemed to be a "toadstool", i.e. inedible.

Maybe the thing to do is to label chantrelles as "chantrelle mushrooms."

Not completely true Loftar. When I say mushrooms I mean button mushroom or common mushroom and these seem to be the favourite in the UK at least. We also have chestnut, portabella and horse mushrooms as the main three that I eat. There are plenty more that grow wild over here but I always got the impression that few people ate many other mushrooms besides the button ones.
