as for bbcode tags, iirc you can add them in the admin panel, there is a place to set up whatever tags you want. it just acts as a text replacement, changing the bbcode to html tags.

Custom BB Codes allow tons of options for things like this, I'm more familiar with vBulletin though so I had to look it up for phpBB.

Trivial, but sub-index pages could use a other color for forum titles. Yellow not that readable. (default forum theme)
