Game Development: Catching the Wind

Postby jorb » Sat Sep 19, 2009 6:28 am

We've been developing tonight, and here's what's new.

1) Winds now blow across the Heaths of the Hearthlands. Winds can, although it might not be easy, be caught. Place caught winds in a wind chime, and watch them grow. Sow the breeze, reap the storm. Remember that babies do outgrow their cradles, after a while. Results may vary.

2) Two bars of copper and one bar of tin now makes for three bars of bronze. Make bronze in an alloying crucible, buildable under "Tools".

3) A lot of the metal recipes have been altered. Instead of using only iron, some now accept any metal, and some accept only iron, steel or bronze.

4) Dexterity and Psyche can now be leveled. New recipes under "Cooking".

5) Gauze now heals a percentage of your total HHP, instead of absolute numbers. One piece of gauze will heal one third of your HHP total before being used up.

We've also spent some time debating teleports, logins and trade, and we believe we've reached some conclusions. We'll keep you posted.

Aha!
Well now, let's see... no boats yet.

But can't wait to try some of this out!
Surprise.

Indeed, Jorb has still been too lazy to draw them. Please nag him about it. :)

Dude, you do not want that wind. Seriously, you don't want to know where it came from.

Oh thank god, we can make chests with any metal.

And as for those boat sprites, I'd love to assist, I know you said before that you don't really want any help, but I just enjoy making sprites. Even if its just some concept ones.

Question: What effects wind quality? I just caught 2 Q10 winds in the same heath, perhaps it's random or heath-based? Or perhaps it's all Q10.
Also does wind quality matter at this point?

I would guess that it increases over time when placed inside the wind chime?
