Well lets see...

The ability to trade within a well-populated or well-traveled area, protection from theft (so long as you get a halfway decent city to rent from)...

And the tax could be as small as 1%. I wouldn't have too much of a problem with a 1% tax on the goods I sell. I would, however, like to see barter stalls (with a version with taxes and such).

You cant have a 1% tax on anything other than an item selling for >99 coins!!! And if you are trading a bunch of items that cost more than 99 coins, you should be trading bars.

You could tax >99 items, so long as you round up to the nearest tenth.

But yes, I can still see your point. This is why we need bloody barter stalls.

I disagree. This is why newbies need to set up stalls and sell their goods, so more advanced players can come by and buy the goods, giving the newbies metal in return.

rounding is horribly imprecise and open to exploitation. The authority should be charging the tax payer the rounded up amount on the first run but keeping a tally and not rounding up every time.

Further more there should be a double entry ledger kept and updated daily with a full inventory on the third month of every year

One problem with coin exchanges, is there is no way to tell how many are in the stack you want to buy.

OK, some ass just built a village to take over the marketplace. He'll still leave theft clue if he takes items from the stalls, right? Or did I misunderstand the latest update?
