is this really going to be world 8 or just a soft reboot after the HDD is replaced? if this is world 8 how does it work? does the whole world get wiped and all you start with is what's on your toons? or do your toons get wiped as well? sorry I'm new to this.

This has nothing with either World 8 or Hafen to do otherwise.

No new world or anything like that. Just like the opening post says, it's just some down time for the server. When it's finished everything will be operating normally.

The server is up and running again, but the RAID rebuild seems to be causing some lag. I'm considering shutting it down until the rebuild is complete, in order to let it complete faster.

It seems to have calmed down a bit, so I'll just let it rebuild like this. It'll probably take ~6 hours or so.
