I would love to know more about this, it sounds really promissing. but sadly I dont know anything about this Xmpp.

would someone be kind enough to write up/link a tutorial explaining what its all about and how its set up?

I have a gmail acount but when I try to enter it in the acount page it gives me an error(and a matrix reference)

That's just because I messed up a bit. It should be working now. :)

To use XMPP with gmail, you'd need to either download the Google Talk client, or use any of the multitude of multiprotocol IM clients available, like Pidgin.

What I'd really like to see is XMPP notification that the server is back up... That way I can log back in immediately instead of having to check it every 30 seconds.

Life, what life? I spend my gnomish life hunched over a keyboard in a darkened room never knowing what time it is beyond the curtains.

At this moment i think what this system is useless.

Do you planing some changes for XMPP? For example:
-messages to off-line users
-server status messages(up, down, restart)
-maybe some kind of alarm system for areas and objects(destroy wall, pass through your area)

sending the server messages over this could be nice though
