Just in case noone noticed, we had another hardware problem with the server. It appears to be overheating, actually. It might be because it is right besides Jorb's stove, and covered in a millimeter of food grease, which collects another few millimeters of dust and mixes with tobacco smoke. They don't build servers like they used to. :)
It is clear that we will need to replace the hardware. There is another computer at Jorb's site which is ready to take over the function, and has lots better specs to boot (if I recall correctly, it's an Athlon XP 2200+ with 1 GB of RAM and a faster hard drive than the current machine). It's a bit sad to retire the trusty old Pentium II, but we'll make a museum out of it. I will probably not be able to do the switch anytime really soon, though, so I hope the current one will stand a few days more, at least.
