Picking locks is not difficult. You need two tools, and they don't need to be specific or fancy, they just need to fit in the hole. One to apply pressure in the direction the lock turns, and one to shove the tumblers up. When the tumblers get pushed up, they sit on the tiny ledge created by turning the lock, and eventually the lock gives way and opens. On the other hand, you need to melt down metal and use molds etc. to actually -make- the lock. Some locks are so easy to pick that you just turn, stick a bobby pin in, push up, and drag back - and they click open.
i guess they never miss huh

Picking locks sounds easy, its a lot harder then your making it out to be  .

Me, being someone who likes to play many thief/stealth games yet also love realism decided to try my hand at lock picking in real life. Not to steal from anyone but just to see if its like the games. I researched, got tools, tried my hand at some locks (front door, bathroom, etc on my own place).

Its tough.

The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Then you absolutely fail at lockpicking. It is not difficult at all.

It really doesn't matter how easy or difficult lock-picking is in real life. This game is not completely realistic, after all, no one runs around strangling brown bears in real life. ;)

Lock-picking just needs to be hard enough in H&H for locks to actually be worthwhile. I'd prefer differing levels of skill rather than another predetermined LP wall to climb.

Heh, it's too bad there are no Ursus Arctos Horribilis in H&H, I bet no one would try to strangle those.

The grumpiest tree you ever did see.

Character: Hamel, previously Chieftain of Ancient Bottleneck, a founding father of the Confederation of Bottleneck. Currently a hibernating soul.

I'd love to have some indepth locksmithing skill. Perhaps different types of locks of different grades. Last one coming with a huge lp wall to allow specialisation so it's not just something everyone has but something you have to commission a master locksmith for.

I agree. You could use the already existing stealth/exploration skills. Exploration for the locksmith, stealth for the lockpick. If they were going to implement skills needed for lockpicking/smithing, though, I'd suggest they both cost the same. Smithing is naturally harder as you need to make the iron et cetera.
