Game Development: Circle the Wagons!

Postby loftar » Sat May 08, 2010 11:42 pm

Hi y'all,

Since Jorb is out and PARTYING HIS HEAD OFF, it falls upon me to write the update post.

This week, we're giving you not so much general stuff as the past few weeks, but rather a very specific piece of stuff; the wagons Jorb posted pictures of a while ago have been added. The exact specifications that the wagons should have is still a bit in flux, but here's how they work right now:

Leash a cow, then right-click the wagon and to leash the cow to it. The driver (who will need the same skill required for building the wagon) will then be able to steer the cow, and the wagon will follow it.

The wagons do not currently, as has been discussed, have any internal claiming mechanic like the leantos or vending stands do. For now, it seemed kind of unnecessary, seeing how one can easily carry around enough dreams and dreamcatchers in it to claim the area whenever one stops for any longer period. I'm perfectly ready to rethink this decision, however; but I will completely ignore any proposed non-Havenesque claim mechanics. :) They soak 15 points of damage, however.

It should be perfectly safe to log out in the wagon, for either the driver or any of the five passengers. The wagon can take 20 carryables and has an 8x8 inventory for normal items. The carts and other carryable-containers have been updated to keep track of the position of the carryables inside their "inventory".

You'll need new clients, mind you.

Oh, and there's an actual options window. Or rather, there's a button for it now. The window itself has been around for a little while.

Enjoy!

Please tell me taming is still made obsolete by clovers. Punching animals is hard.

Edit just for spite:
Oxcarting

"YEEEEEHAW!"

Oxcarting allows your character to construct and drive wagons.

Just going off the title, but I believe all we're getting is some good ol' cowboy hats. ;D Eff those horses, it's all about the cowboy hats.
