Maybe a visual aid will help for ridge-wall building?
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

But that's not relevant for me, because the part of my wall that intersects a ridge runs north to south (I haven't been able to walk around the construction site from either side, though, so I guess that's good. I suck at finding ways to abuse things, though.)

Actually, now that I look at it, my wall will be fine. And it seems to have to do more with which way the ridge is facing, too.

Out of curiosity, what does the B12 axe do to walls? Same as a normal stone axe?

After having done this with a palisade (not even a stone wall), I have to say... don't attempt this unless you are, in fact, Superman.

I think the best way for a thief to get in is to wait for someone to exit who has a key and gank it.
