Game Development: Cellars and Cheese.

Postby jorb » Wed Jul 15, 2009 5:19 am

We've been developing tonight, and here's what's new.

Work on pathfinding has begun, and new creatures are being drawn. These relatively big projects are our main focus right now, so tonight's update is fairly small.

New Construction, Cellar: Expand your house with a trap door cellar by learning "Locks and Bolts", and then building one. The build process requires you to extract a fair amount of stone from the cellar space.

New Industry, Cheesemaking: Learn Cheesemaking, build a curding tub and fill it with rennet and milk. With milk and rennet in place, the curding tub starts generating curd. Curd gives 1 STR FEP. Cheesemaking will be expanded upon during the next dev session, and curd will be the base for all future cheeses.

Fun trivia: We had 76 simultaneous players logged in a few hours ago, which is a new record. Welcome everyone from Something Awful!

Awesome! can't get home so I can start work on my cellar! Does holding a pick axe make it faster?

Can anyone tell me how big their cellar is?
How big the ladder is?
can you have multiple cellars per building?

I imagine a house with a floor consisting solely of cellar doors... each one to a different cellar.
Oh, I wonder if these can be built outside... Nope.
Surprise.

It let me place one down inside the mine when I tried it just now.

Correct. I trusted Loftar. My mistake.

Fixed. :)

It seems only the person placing the cellar blueprint can dig out of it. Confirmation?
