Lesser update: Barter stand

Postby loftar » Tue Jul 20, 2010 1:46 am

Greetings,

Because of recent developments that made it possible, I tried my hand at making a new vending stand that trades items for items, rather than items for coins. I'm not sure how well it works yet, nor of its utility, but please try it out.

It works pretty much like the current vending stand except for the price setting. You set the price by clicking the "Change" button and then point out an item in your inventory. Upon doing so, you will be presented with a little dialog box for choosing the desired item type, the quantity of it and the required quality. When you choose a bar of steel, for example, you will be able to choose whether to require steel, hard metals, common metals or any metal.

It's an experimental implementation, so it may well be buggy. Furthermore, Jorb has had no involvement in it, so there's no new graphics for it.

Enjoy!

Cool! I like this idea a lot. Here's to hoping it's bug-free.

Nice update.

Perhaps later down the line a stall can be made that allows the sale/trade of lift-able items?

THESE COINS, YOU MADE THEM USELESS-ER.

Now, can these be stolen from? And if so, do they leave scents anywhere, or only on village/stake claims?

So, um. This is a strange thing. For one thing, what happens if it's destroyed? Do the items inside it vanish, or fall on the ground? Does it have a 'safebox' inside, where items for sale or that have been traded in are stored? Can I ask for multiples of an item, instead of just 1 for 1? (4 chantrelles for a brick, for instance.) There's a lot of questions that have to be answered.

What an uncharacteristically insightless statement for being you.

Do you really think coins should be useful for trading just because they're called "coins"? :)

With regards to that, they work precisely as do the old vending stands.
